A guide to new UAE schools starting this month

From offering later start times and giving students and teachers more sleep time, to focusing on mental health and real-life experiences, the new schools in the UAE aim to reshape education.

Abu Dhabi will open its first Italian school from next week. At the same time, Durham School in Dubai, one of the oldest educational institutions in the UK, will also open.

Non-traditional is the key word for the opening of new schools in the UAE for the 2022-2023 school year.

Bloom World College in Dubai has a capacity of 1,800 students, with classes from 9am to 4pm. It will also introduce the Learning Achievement Passport, setting goals for students to change the way they learn.

Even the youngest students on campus will have the opportunity to choose their learning path based on their stage of study, not just their age.

Bloom World College

Bloom World Academy will be open 1,800 students will be accommodated by the end of the month. The school will enroll students from kindergarten to ninth grade.

The school aims to provide students with a unique experience with an emphasis on bespoke education. This means that students have a personal tutor to monitor their progress and guide the student’s educational path at which stage rather than age, interests and potential.

The school believes in combining technology, design and imagination to help students grow in a dynamic curriculum.

Classes from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, IB courses The campus will be the first in the city to offer a late start, with classes more than an hour later than most schools in the emirate.

Parents are also welcome to eat with their children during the weekly school lunch break.

“We are a family-first school, which means we will be the first school in the UAE to open every morning at 9am,” said the school’s principal, John Bell. “We’re not a morning school, it’s based on giving families more time in the morning.”

The school’s doors will be open from 7am to 7pm and the school will also offer breakfast clubs, health and sports activities and after school extracurricular activities.

“We will continue to question the educational traditions of Bloom World College, and our lunch break programme is just one example,” Mr Bell said.

Based on Al BarshaBloom World Academy, run by Bloom Education, will be the group’s first private label school in the UAE.

The British Curriculum Civic School, designed and developed by Al Zarooni Emirates Investments, will open on Monday.

The school claims to be the first school in the Middle East to allow parents to pay Tuition with cryptocurrency. The school will accept bitcoin and ether payments.

Children will learn about the importance of digital currency and blockchain technology to prepare them for their future.

The 43,000-square-meter campus can accommodate 2,600 children from 3 to 18 years old.

The school’s learning experience focuses on the well-rounded development of students and is built around each child’s unique requirements and talents.

Citizens School has partnered with Blenheim Schools of the Chatsworth Schools Group, one of the UK’s leading school groups, to deliver an inclusive, experience-based curriculum tailored to each child’s strengths.

Durham School Dubai

Durham School Dubai Opening its doors to more than 100 students on Monday, the school will enroll students in Foundation Years 1 to 8 for the first year.

The school is a branch of one of the oldest schools in England, founded in 1414 and rebuilt in 1541 by King Henry VIII.

The school’s 32-million-square-meter campus in Dubai Investment Park will be able to host more than 1,700 students at full capacity.

The new property has a foundation stage section, a primary and secondary school complex with specialized science, art and IT laboratories, a concert hall, auditorium, a multipurpose gymnasium and a 25-meter indoor swimming pool.

Mark Atkins, a 35-year educator, has been named the new school’s founding principal.

Italian International School

course: IB with Italian language and cultural enrichment

cost: Founder’s fees range from AED 36,250 for Kindergarten to AED 57,450 for Year 12

Place: Khalifa City Abu Dhabi A

This is the first school in Abu Dhabi inspired by Italy and its language, culture and curriculum.

The language of instruction in the school is English.

The school will be open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade on August 29. The school plans to open grades six to nine next year.

School fees range from AED 47,200 to AED 62,800, but the school offers founders fees ranging from AED 36,250 to AED 57,450 to students registered for the 2022-23 academic year. Families will benefit from these fees for the next three years.

In 2022, the school will start with half-classes per year, with around 200-250 students expected in the first year.

Both the IB curriculum and the activities offered to students after school are designed to develop basic life skills. There are cooking schools, chess academies, martial arts, yoga, football, cricket and cycling clubs.

The school is very nutrition-focused and their chefs will be on-site to prepare healthy meals.

As part of encouraging a balanced lifestyle, the school ensures that all learning takes place at school so that children have time to spend with their families or develop hobbies.

Nine new charter schools to open in Abu Dhabi

The rapidly expanding programme, which kicked off in the 2018-2019 school year with the opening of the 2,700-place Al Rayana School, will offer a total of 46,500 places in 31 schools when the new campus opens next month.

The new school will offer Kindergarten, Cycle 1, Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 and employ 139 Emiratis who will serve as administrative and teaching trainees following a dedicated recruitment exercise.

Charter schools use a public-private model, where the government builds the infrastructure and then allows private partners to manage the school.

There are currently 15 charter schools in Abu Dhabi City and 7 in Al Ain offering American Curriculum 30,198 UAE primary school children.
