The next META Film Forum will be held at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai from 25-26 October, and will address the mismatch between supply and demand for film content and theater facilities in the Middle East and Africa.
Film industry stakeholders from Turkey, Asia and the CIS countries will participate in the fifth edition of the META Film Forum, making it a true global film industry conference that has become one of the must-attend global film conferences.
Over 500 industry representatives, experts and participants will discuss and debate the opportunities and challenges facing industry stakeholders at the META Film Forum. More than 60 suppliers will showcase the latest products and services that enhance the moviegoer experience.
Following two days of major film industry conferences, the three-day META Film Festival will screen more than 40 shortlisted full-length feature films, documentaries and short films, as well as screenings of the highly anticipated 2022 film at VOX Cinemas in Nakheel Premiere Mall.
“The META Cinema Forum has become an international platform for the global cinema industry community to build partnerships and bridge the content gap, in addition to discussing how to expand the cinema chain into emerging markets,” said Leila Masinaei, Managing Partner, Great Mind Events Management.
The META Film Forum also complements the development of the creative economy, the contribution of which could have a major impact on countries in the Middle East and Africa. It will drive the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy, which aims to transform the emirate of Dubai into an international creative destination and creative economy capital by 2025.
A recent Deloitte report, The Future of the Creative Economy, shows that the creative industries employ nearly 20 million people in the nine countries studied by Deloitte.
“The nature of the creative economy will continue to change, and specific businesses and sectors will prosper or decline. New sectors may emerge entirely. However, we can be optimistic that the overall creative economy will likely grow over time,” Deloitte said in its research paper.
The Dubai Creative Economy Strategy aims to increase the contribution of creative industries to Dubai’s GDP from 2.6% in 2020 to 5% by 2025. It also seeks to more than double the number of creative companies in Dubai from 8,300. It will increase to 15,000 by 2020, and the number of creators in the UAE will more than double by 2025, from 70,000 in 2020 to 140,000 in 2025.
META Film Forum is the first and so far the only film industry-focused conference in the Middle East and Africa region, with one of the fastest growing entertainment industries in the world, where governments and the private sector are investing heavily in entertainment facilities to diversify the economy and reduce reliance on a single economic sector.
The event brings all stakeholders together on one platform to brainstorm on developments in the industry and identify future opportunities. It will host seminars, award ceremonies, premieres of new films, workshops and masterclasses, as well as showcase new products and exclusive content showcases.
The META Film Forum is supported by VOX Cinemas as a strategic film partner, with the State Film Administration joining as a support partner. Other leading industry partners include Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. Entertainment, AMC Cinemas, Cinepolis Gulf, Maison SU, Cinemarine, CineBodrum, FilmHouse Cinemas, Golden Scene, Cinema Plus, Dolby, ME Cinemas, Starz Play, Cinepax and Empire Entertainment. – arab trade news agency
