This fall, one of Agatha Christie’s most engrossing and acclaimed performers arrives at the Broadway Dinner Theater, based on Tony Award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig’s new stage play, “Agatha” Murder on the Orient Express. The show will open on September 9.
In the play, just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express. The luxury train is surprisingly full at certain times of the year, but by morning there are fewer passengers. An American tycoon died in his carriage, stabbed more than a dozen times, his door locked from the inside. Left alone with a killer in the middle, passengers rely on Detective Hercule Poirot to identify the killer – in case he or she decides to strike again.
Murder on the Orient Express has been a hit since it entered our entertainment culture, and it has been adapted into film, television, games and now the stage.
The mystery first hit the big screen in 1974, when Albert Finney joined a star-studded cast in the role of the eccentric Belgian detective. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards and saw Ingrid Bergman win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Dino P. Coppa Sr. takes on the role of Hercules Poirot, the discerning world-renowned investigator who has appeared in the theater’s other mysteries. Joining Coppa are Jessica Billones as Hele Hubbard, Betsey Whitmore Brannen and Pam Neely as Princess Dragomiroff, Brian Kaider as Constantine Bouc, Hannah Pecoraro as Greta Ohlsson, Olivia Smith as Mary Debenham, Wil Spaeth and Randy Stull as Hector McQueen , Steve Steele as Michelle, Jordan B. Stocksdale as Samuel Ratchett and Colonel Arbuthnott, Megan E. West Countess Andre.
Based on Agatha Christie’s novel of the same name and written by Ken Ludwig, Justin M. Kiska will direct “Broadway.”
Murder on the Orient Express will air from September 9 to November 6, with performances every Friday and Saturday night, and matinees on the first, third and fifth Sundays of each month. Please call 301-662-6600 to purchase tickets.
