A man has been charged with the murder of three siblings in Dublin.

Lisa Cash, 18, and her twin brothers Christy and Chelsea Cowley, 8, were killed in an incident at their home in Tallagh in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Andrew Cash, 24, of Rosefield Avenue, Tara, appeared at a special session at Dublin Crown Court on Monday night and was charged with murder.

The court heard he answered “no comment” to each of the charges and he was remanded in custody.

Garda Robert Whitty told the court the accused was cautioned at 7.51pm on Monday and charged with three counts of murder.

Judge Patricia McNamara remanded the cash at Cloverhill Prison to appear via video link on Friday at 10am.

Earlier, Talat held a vigil in memory of the siblings, with a large crowd gathering outside the house to mourn with family and friends.

As the song was played to the crowd, balloons were released and candles were lit along the walls outside the house in their honor.

Dozens of bouquets of flowers, teddy bears and candles line the walls, as well as pictures of the trio showing Christie and Chelsea having their first communion.

Police were called to the Tallat Rosefield estate property around 12.30am on Sunday.

Following the incident, the victim’s 14-year-old brother was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Their mother, a woman in her 40s, was released from hospital on Sunday with the support of her family.

Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin expressed his “deepest sympathies” to the families of the victims and said the “horrific tragedy” “shocking and saddens the entire country”.

Ireland’s police chief Drew Harris described the deaths as “horrific and distressing”, saying they were “one of the worst things I’ve heard about or encountered during my tenure in office”.

The commissioner is appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have any information to come forward and help police with their investigation.
