Saeed Al Hebsi, director of the Human Rights Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, confirmed that media reports of the deportation of workers from some African countries in the UAE are categorically false. They are simply repetitions of previously proven claims.

In a statement, Al Hebsi confirmed that the human rights policy report published by Impact International included multiple allegations that Impact International had previously published in 2021, which the UAE refuted.

Al Hebsi states that they are incorrect because the measures taken in the arrest and expulsion of a limited number of workers are carried out as part of a legal process, and all workers without exception are bound by a written legal employment contract to uphold their rights.

The parties involved must comply with the terms of these contracts, and any termination of the contractual relationship with the worker must take place in accordance with the requirements set out in the contract.

Al Hebsi affirmed that the UAE remains committed to full transparency in dealing with these issues and urged the media to refer to the official statements of the relevant UAE authorities in this regard.
