LONDON (AP) – Netflix’s critically acclaimed series “The Crown” about Queen Elizabeth II and her family death of a monarch.
A spokeswoman for the show said production was suspended on Friday “out of respect” and would also be suspended on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
The show is in production for its sixth season. The first two seasons star Claire Foy as the young Princess Elizabeth ascends the throne and grows into a monarch, and seasons three and four star Olivia Colman as the more mature queen. The show gradually moved closer to current events. Netflix recently revealed the casting of the actor who will play Prince William and his wife Kate in season six.
The fifth season, starring Imelda Staunton as the Queen, will premiere in November.
The show has won 22 Emmys to date, including an Outstanding Television Series trophy and Best Television Actress honors for Foy and Coleman. Josh O’Connor, who played Prince Charles in 13 episodes, also won an Emmy for best actor in a drama for portraying the future king as a young man.
