ABU DHABI, 10th September, 2022 (WAM) — Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, continues to strengthen its commitment in the US market, adding flights following the launch of New York’s JFK International Airport. New A350 aircraft, and expanded partnership with JetBlue.
Last night, Etihad invited friends and partners to an event in New York to celebrate the airline’s latest milestone and continued commitment to the US market and its North American partners.
Several key representatives of Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry joined the delegation, including Mohammed Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral Asset Management; Husain Al Hashmi, Regional Manager, Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism; and Francois Bourienne, Chief Commercial Officer, Abu Dhabi Airports. They were joined by other executives in the hospitality and tourism industries, helping to strengthen ties between the UAE and the US.
Speaking at the gala event in New York last night, Etihad Airways Group CEO Tony Douglas commented: “The US remains one of our key markets, which is why New York and Chicago are new routes for Etihad Airways. One of the first destinations to serve the A350. We are proud to continue to provide our guests with a first-class travel experience and enhanced connectivity through our growing partnership with JetBlue.”
Also in attendance were Etihad’s longtime codeshare partner and executives from New York’s hometown airline JetBlue. Etihad Airways and JetBlue Airways have been codeshare partners since 2014 and currently codeshare across 46 destinations in the Americas. JetBlue recently started codeshare on Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi to Chicago and New York, and Washington, D.C. will join soon. As Etihad Airways prepares to increase flights to New York’s JFK International Airport in November, partners are planning to add more destinations to provide travelers with a seamless connection to the new gateway.
In addition to increasing connectivity through a codeshare partnership, Etihad Airways and JetBlue are developing a frequent flyer partnership that will allow TrueBlue frequent flyers and Etihad frequent flyer members to earn Withdraw and redeem miles.
In addition to launching the A350, increasing service to JFK and expanding its partnership with JetBlue, Etihad Airways announced in June that it will be the first airline to have a permanent presence at JFK’s new Terminal 1 One of the companies and the first Middle Eastern airline, the leadership of the airline attended the groundbreaking ceremony on September 8.
Etihad passengers travelling to the US can take advantage of Etihad’s US Pre-Clearance Facility, the only US Customs and Border Protection facility in the Middle East. This allows US-bound passengers to handle all immigration, customs and agricultural checks in Abu Dhabi before boarding, avoiding immigration and queues upon arrival in the US.
