On Thursday, Spotify announced that it will start playing Aaliyah’s record on August 20, with “one in a million” premiering.
The launch will include the release of her project within three months. “Romeo Must Die Soundtrack” will be released on September 3, “Aaliyah” will be released on September 10, “I Care 4 U” + “Ultimate Aaliyah” will be released on October 8.
Although Spotify announced the news, it is not clear whether Apple Music or Tidal will play the catalog of the late singer. But Blackground Records does hint that Aaliyah’s work will be available elsewhere.
The record company wrote on Instagram, “Aaliyah’s music will be officially available on all major digital streaming platforms + physical albums” and continues to list items that fans can expect to receive.
This is the second day after the website “Aaliyah is coming” appeared on the Internet, Aaliyah’s estate issued a statement, part of which read:
“Protecting Aaliyah’s legacy is and will always be our focus. For 20 years, we have been fighting behind the scenes. Use unauthorized projects designed to defile to implement covert deception strategies. We have always been confused as to why we are so stubborn. Earth creates more pain beyond what we have to deal with for the rest of our lives.”
As we all know, Aaliyah’s uncle, Blackground Records founder Barry Hankerson (Barry Hankerson) and other family members have been at odds since their death in 2001. The discussion about releasing her music has been going on for 20 years until now.
Aaliyah’s music release coincided with Barry’s revival of Blackground Records.
People seem to be very excited about the news and said, “We will receive Aaliyah’s “One IN A MILLION” album on the 20th.”
Someone added: “Finally! And-I just bought a turntable, and my new deputy is a record! Next, I will release the Aaliyah album of the same name on the vinyl record.”
Another said, “We can finally stop listening to Aaliyah’s music illegally.”
Roommates, are you excited about this?
