The UAE has launched a “Bread for All” programme in Dubai, which aims to provide poor families and workers with free bread through smart vending machines located across the UAE.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Global Giving Advisory Centre (MBRGEC) under the Awqaf and Minor Affairs Foundation (AMAF) launched the project yesterday.
According to the state news agency, WAM “This digital initiative aims to provide fresh bread to those in need through smart machines deployed in multiple stores. The pre-programmed machines prepare bread and deliver it for free as part of a modern and sustainable model of charity work.”
The program is the result of a partnership with Aswaaq supermarkets and will see the machines placed in its branches at various locations.

The machines are user-friendly and anyone in need can press the “order” button.After a short wait, the bread is being prepared and it will be taken out of the machine, explaining National.
The charity project aims to encourage the participation of community members, and individuals can donate to the initiative via text message, online and through the Dubai Now app.
AMAF Secretary-General Ali Al-Mutawa told WAM: “This initiative is a model of innovative community giving that allows everyone to participate, creating a comprehensive philanthropic movement that strengthens the spirit of solidarity at all levels of society.”
“We look forward to expanding our collaboration with the initiative’s partners in the local community to reach the greatest number of beneficiaries,” he added.
The Bread for All initiative is said to be in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Ruler of Dubai, who was at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 statement “In the UAE, no one is hungry or needs to sleep.”
