Pure Storage helps customers reduce energy usage

[ad_1]

Pure Storage, an IT pioneer providing the world’s most advanced data storage technologies and services, announced progress in sustainability, helping customers dramatically reduce their energy usage and environmental footprint.

Sustainability has been part of Pure Storage’s DNA since its inception as a disruptive innovator in the storage industry, the company said.

It said that as sustainability and energy efficiency become increasingly important to organizations around the world, Pure will continue to invest in helping clients achieve their environmental and energy efficiency goals.

The new Pure1 Sustainability Assessment lets customers understand their impact on the environment and proactively propose optimization opportunities. Features include:

Power saving analysis: Pure1 will display the power used compared to the nominal power load of the device. Customers can monitor the power efficiency of their entire fleet by data center site or by a single array.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitor: Pure1 provides direct carbon usage estimates based on power used.

Evaluation: Customers can use Pure1 to evaluate how to improve power efficiency by measuring the watts per unit of data that can be read back on the array.

Recommendation: Pure1 provides forward-looking insights and guidance on improving direct carbon footprints.

In addition to offering new sustainability tools, Pure continues to advance the sustainability of its core products. With the introduction of the FlashBlade//S family of products, Pure is more than double the power efficiency of previous versions. Due to unique design decisions – including Pure’s DirectFlash technology, built-in flash software, always-on deep compression and Evergreen architecture – both FlashBlade and FlashArray can achieve power savings unlike any competing storage system on the market.

Since reporting its first sustainability results in March 2022, Pure Storage has now conducted a use-phase sustainability analysis of its entire portfolio of storage arrays, including the new FlashBlade//S, based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) formula. Pure provides:

84.7% direct energy savings compared to competitive all-flash from FlashArray//X™

80% direct energy savings compared to competitive all-flash from FlashArray//XL™

75% direct energy savings compared to FlashArray//C™’s competitive hybrid

Direct energy savings of 67% compared to FlashBlade//S competing traditional all-flash

Direct energy savings of 60% compared to competing upstart all-flash from FlashBlade//S
