DUBAI: UAE-based Web3 pioneer BEDU launched the country’s first metaverse project in 2117, inspired by Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s creation of the first metaverse on Mars. A colonial vision.
Amin Alzarouni, CEO of BEDU, told Arab News that the name of the Metaverse 2117 comes from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s announcement in 2017 to build the first on Mars in a hundred years. a colony.
“That’s why we call Metaverse 2117 an inspiration,” he said.
Alzarouni informed that the newly launched Metaverse aligns with the Martian space layout of the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre, on which BEDU plans to build an entire world, including residential buildings, hotels, entertainment centers, schools, universities and medical care facility.
According to him, millions of dollars have been invested in the Metaverse project without providing specific figures.
In addition to claiming that the company’s name is derived from a Bedouin term, Alzarouni added that the company’s mission is to follow in the footsteps of nomads and discover the next planet.
“them [nomads] Basically land was discovered here, Earth was discovered, and now we’re going to continue to discover different areas, and the next destination is Mars,” he said.

According to the CEO, millions of dollars have been invested in the Metaverse project. He said the company’s mission is to discover the next planet.
He explained that 2117 is an immersive digital world that exists in parallel with reality. It will take 95 years for the Mars vision to become a reality in the real world.
According to Alzarouni, the primary focus of metaverse 2117 is human values, regardless of their apparent spatial orientation.
“We are very concerned with humanity and human values, which is how people live together in tolerance, regardless of religion, culture and race,” he said.
Alzarouni explained that 2117 is an immersive digital world that exists in parallel with reality. It took 95 years for the Mars vision to become a reality in the real world, but BEDU has now made it happen in the Metaverse.
In addition to providing the spatial layout for BEDU, MBRSC also provides the data needed to create the most realistic metaverse possible, Alzarouni said.
Create job opportunies
In the metaverse, companies can scale faster and more easily, which could potentially create more jobs, Alzarouni said.
Five to 10 years from now, there will be new jobs filling the virtual world, he said.
“One of the jobs that I foresee in the future is combining architects with programming skills that exist in the metaverse,” he said.
Therefore, he added, a new set of skills could be created by introducing a course in universities in which students graduate with architect thinking and software programming skills to be able to function in virtual worlds.
social integration
As a concept, Metaverse already exists in different verticals, and games like Roblox and Fortnite have briefly integrated it into society, the CEO said.
“The concept of digital twins exists in the manufacturing business, the automotive business and the real estate business, and that’s one area where Metaverse can help,” he said.
However, he added that the world is in the early stages of bringing the metaverse into reality. “It will take some time, depending on the adoption rate,” Alzarouni said. The introduction of the metaverse into society could take five to ten years, he continued.
Alzarouni said that BEDU’s main goal and strategy is to become the next unicorn in the Web3 space.
“Right now, we’re all equal. No one can claim that they’re ahead of the game, Meta, Microsoft, any other metaverse project, not even us,” he said.
In Metaverse 2117’s vision, people will be able to work, go to school and enjoy concerts in the Metaverse, he said.
2117 Timeline
The journey will begin in “2117,” taking off from Earth and taking users through space for seven months until they land on Mars. The journey is expected to begin in December of this year, Alzarouni said.
The public will be able to participate in the Metaverse starting in October, and will be closed starting in December 2022.
Alzarouni said the sale will be open for two periods. The first sale will be private for 0.2117 ETH. In the second sale to the public, the price will be 0.25 ETH, he added.
Web3 users with digital wallets will be able to connect their wallets and use their cryptocurrencies to access 2117, he said. “So, it’s as simple as any e-commerce experience people have right now,” he added.
He concluded that after BEDU is released at the end of October, people will be able to access the 2117 metaverse through a link shared by the company.
