UAE: Abu Dhabi launches grant to tackle five healthcare challenges

The grant will support researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs in Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector to tackle key challenges in two main areas, covering five themes – cardiometabolic and vascular disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, rare Research on diseases, emerging infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. It will also consider innovations focused on smart hospitals and the prevention and management of chronic diseases.

Applicants must work with a medical institution in Abu Dhabi to complete and submit their entries.

Submissions will be assessed and assessed by experts from the Abu Dhabi Council for Health Research and Technology, led by Dr Asma Al Mannaei, Executive Director of the Centre for Research and Innovation at the Ministry of Health.

Dr Al Mannaei said: “Abu Dhabi’s wise leadership has long recognised the critical role of research and innovation in all sectors – and more importantly in healthcare, to drive better outcomes while improving the health of the healthcare system. Effectiveness and efficiency. As part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to reaffirm the capital’s status as a leading destination for life sciences and innovation, we are committed to enabling innovators and researchers within our community to take their passionate projects to the next level. Abu Dhabi provides the right environment for individuals and companies to thrive and we are delighted to propose this grant to expand the UAE’s clinical research capabilities.”

She added: “We look forward to receiving and reading all submissions and providing guidance to all applicants. This is an exciting milestone for the healthcare industry, which will set up healthy competition among tech fanatics. “

The grant is led by the DoH, and applicants have six weeks to submit their entries. The grant will provide recipients with financial support for clinical research projects, as well as proof-of-concept projects for innovative new technologies and services.
