Most UAE employees are keen to learn new skills for better career prospects

Business leaders worry if employees don’t have the right technology to move to heights Distributed Workforce ModelAccording to Dell, the company surveyed 10,500 senior business and IT decision makers and employees involved in digital transformation from more than 40 countries between August and October last year.

“Businesses need to understand people’s behaviours and mindsets towards technology and change,” said Walid Yehia, senior director and general manager of Dell Technologies UAE.

“They must apply empathy to everything from technology design that puts end-user experience first to transformational change programs that drive excitement and purpose.”

According to another survey by management consulting firm McKinsey, the overall rate of adoption of digital technologies accelerated by three to seven years in just a few months in 2020. Most companies say they need digital business models to remain economically viable by 2023.

The McKinsey survey shows that most companies see technological capabilities as a strategic differentiator from competitors following the acceleration of digitalization during the pandemic.

According to Dell Technologies’ 2020 Digital Transformation Index, 90% of organisations in the UAE have completed at least part of their digital transformation initiatives quickly – completing in a few months what would normally take years. That compares with 80 percent for the global benchmark.

A Dell survey found that 92% of business leaders in the UAE see their employees as their greatest asset in driving digital transformation projects.

Half of UAE IT leaders say their organisations know how to do it Digitally Transforming the Workforcebut after nearly two years of rapid change, many employees now face the challenge of keeping up with the pace of change.

Some 57% of UAE business leaders believe their companies underestimate how to interact with their employees Planning a digital transformation planwhile 57% also believe resist change could cause the project to fail, Dale said.

The company added: “Now is the time for organisations to assess before embarking on a new digital transformation project to ensure their employees are supported and have a clear understanding of the next phase of implementation.”

Some 69% of respondents globally say they don’t have to Digital Transformation Skillswhile the survey found that 51% of those interviewed in the UAE felt overwhelmed by complex technology.

More than half of respondents globally say they don’t always have the drive or energy to digitally transform their workplace.

If employees fear they won’t thrive in a transformed workplace, they may resist the change, Dell said.
