Emirates News Agency – Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre hosts symposium on infectious disease science

ABU DHABI, 3rd October, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, ADPHC, today hosted a high-level delegation from the Institut Pasteur, France, to attend a conference at the Cleveland Clinic headquarters. Scientific Symposium in the Field of Infectious Diseases, Emirate of Abu Dhabi, within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding reached between the two parties last July.

The event was moderated by Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health, and Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADPHC.

On this occasion, Matar Al Nuaimi said: “The Abu Dhabi Centre for Public Health plays a key role in supporting one of the main projects in the health sector within the UAE-France Strategic Dialogue Project, which features collaborations with leading global public health leaders. Authorities cooperate with the European Union and the French Republic, such as the French Pasteur Institute.

“This workshop is considered a continuation of the cooperation in the sector, one of the main achievements of which is the Franco-UAE Strategic Dialogue Programme, which will enhance the country’s position in the field, achieve sustainable development of the country and improve its status and competitiveness,” he explained.

“We aspire to develop national human and material capabilities to enhance our scientific research and medical education capabilities in the field of infectious disease response and emergency preparedness. The workshop brought together experts and scientists from the UAE and France (Institut Bastoor), Introducing research on different topics related to infectious disease control and preparedness to explore further collaborations in this area, which is critical for public health and future preparedness for emerging infections,” added Al Nuaimi.

Professor Stuart Cole, director of the Pasteur Institute, said: “We are delighted with this visit, which is a continuation of the close cooperation, communication and coordination between the two sides. It also strengthens our capacity as a public health entity, which uses Advanced technology to respond, monitor and respond to epidemics. We will also be able to exchange information related to public and preventive health with the United Arab Emirates, one of the highest-ranked countries in the world to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.”
