EU condemns Houthi threat to bomb Saudi Arabia and UAE

The European Union has condemned an “unacceptable threat” by Yemen’s Houthi rebels to bomb oil facilities in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates following a truce with government forces.

Yemen’s internationally recognized government has previously said it would respond positively to efforts to extend the ceasefire.

The EU statement called on the Houthis to “moderate their demands and engage constructively with the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg,” who is trying to extend the ceasefire.

Yemen’s government forces said on Monday that the Houthis had killed five soldiers and wounded 34 in the final days of the truce.
