The German consulate in Mumbai has announced a reduction in visa fees for Indian citizens, adding that new visa appointments will be available soon. With this change, Schengen visa fees and national visa fees have been reduced for Indians. Visas are issued by Germany according to the duration and purpose of stay. Short-term Schengen visas are available for stays of up to 90 days, and German national visas are issued for stays of more than 90 days. National visas are helpful for students studying in Germany.

New rates for German Schengen and national visas:
Schengen visa fee is now 6,400 INR (80 EUR) for adults and 3,200 INR (40 EUR) for minors
The national visa fee for adults is now INR 6,000 (€75) and the national visa fee for minors is INR 3,000 (€37,50)

Germany visa processing time:
The processing time for a Schengen visa is approximately 15 days. “Due to the peak season, at some German embassies it currently takes an average of at least 15 days to process your Schengen visa application. Please take this into consideration before submitting your application,” said the German embassy in India.

“If your travel date is imminent or within two weeks of your application date, please check if you can postpone your travel. In general, neither the German delegation nor the service provider can expedite the process,” the statement added.
