5th Abu Dhabi Cultural Summit to be held in October

Abu Dhabi Cultural Summit 2022

The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi) has announced that the fifth edition of the Abu Dhabi Cultural Summit will be held at Manarat Al Saadiyat under the theme “Living Culture”.

The Global Forum will be held from October 23rd to 25th. It will examine contemporary issues driving change in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) and current wider cultural sector.

The program will explore what it means to embrace culture as a lived experience in a world transformed by Covid-19 and gain a better understanding of its pervasive impact on our individual and collective lives.

The Abu Dhabi Cultural Summit will see cultural leaders, artists, practitioners, academics, educators and creative professionals discuss these pressing contemporary issues.

The program is carefully curated so that each day of the summit examines a sub-theme in greater detail. Topics to be discussed during the summit include the impact of digital media and artificial intelligence, geographic focus on East Africa and the arts and cultural scene, and cultural and climate emergencies, among others.

In addition, this year’s programme will feature high-level speakers including Ernesto Ottone Ramirez, Assistant Director-General for Culture, UNESCO; Fiammetta Rocco, Culture Editor, The Economist; Dr. Helena Nassif, Director of Cultural Resources (Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy); Harvey Mason Jr, CEO of the Recording Academy; producer Jennifer Stockman; award-winning architect Frank Gehry, and collectors Guy and Myriam Ullens, among others.

Summit events include a series of keynote speeches, panel discussions, artist talks, workshops, film screenings, creative conversations and cultural performances.

Richard Armstrong, director of the Solomon R. The Abu Dhabi Cultural Summit 2022 is organised in collaboration with global partner organisations such as UNESCO, Economist Impact, Google, Design Museum, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation and The Recording Academy.

Other participating partners include Image Nation Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Film Council, Sandstorm Comics, Cultural Foundation, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Berkeley Abu Dhabi, Cultural Resources, Arab Arts and Culture Foundation and Institut de France.
