an event from Latin American country of Chile Contrary to the saying “money is not found on the road, it can only be found through hard work”, well it’s only temporary. A video of money billowing down the country’s highways has garnered widespread attention online.

What exactly happened?

Robbers robbed a casino and stole money after threatening an employee with a gun and fleeing the scene, according to reports. But shortly after city police received information about the attack, they began hunting for the thieves.

Police then followed a blue Chevrolet through different routes, eventually leading the robbers to the North Coast Highway, the report said. Once on the highway, the robbers tossed the bags containing the stolen money, and the banknotes mushroomed, creating a Hollywood movie scene.

What is the fate of the money thrown on the highway?

Some lucky bystanders did manage to get their hands on some notes as police stopped traffic to collect cash lying on the road. According to the BBC, the robbers attempted to steal 10 million Chilean pesos, or $10,300, while Skynews reported that the amount stolen was $60,000. The money was later recovered by police and six people were arrested.

Theft is on the rise

Many believe thieves in Chile have grown bolder as attacks on businesses and the gaming industry have proliferated. This has led business owners to demand a stronger police presence.

In May, a driver of an escort of Chilean President Gabriel Boric was shot and killed in Santiago by a group of people who stole his government vehicle.
