A replacement plane from Indian airline SpiceJet arrived in Karachi on Tuesday night after the airline’s Dubai-bound flight made an emergency landing in Pakistan.

The replacement Boeing 737 Max landed at 5.45pm Pakistan time and will take passengers to Dubai.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, the New Delhi-to-Dubai plane landed safely after diverting to the Pakistani city after an indicator light malfunctioned. There were more than 150 passengers on board.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday ordered an investigation into the incident.

“On July 5, 2022, while M/s SpiceJet B737-8 Max aircraft VT-MXG was performing flight SG-011 in Delhi-Dubai, the crew observed an abnormal decrease in the amount of fuel in the left fuel tank. SpiceJet said the flight was diverted en route to Dubai at an altitude of 5,000 feet. Conversations between the SpiceJet pilot and ATC Karachi interviewed by ANI revealed that the pilot requested a precautionary landing following a suspected fuel leak. airplane.

The plane landed safely at Karachi Airport at around 8am local time, 53 minutes after takeoff.

“The SpiceJet has been on the ground for the past four hours. Passengers are being cared for. The aircraft has been parked in a designated area where engineers are assessing the problem,” a Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan (CAA) official said.

“On July 5, 2022, SpiceJet B737 flight SG-11 (Delhi-Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to a malfunction of the indicator light. The plane landed safely in Karachi and the passengers disembarked safely,” the airline spokesman said. On June 19, two incidents were reported on two separate SpiceJet flights. First, a Delhi-bound flight with 185 passengers caught fire shortly after takeoff from Patna airport and had to make an emergency landing. The airline said the bird strike damaged their fan blades.

In another incident on the same day, a SpiceJet Bombardier Q400 Dash 8 flight from Delhi to Jabalpur made an emergency landing in Delhi because cabin pressure could not build up as the plane took off.
