UAE provides additional humanitarian aid to flood victims in Pakistan

KARACHI – Hamad Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, accompanied by the UAE Consul General in Karachi, Bakheet Ateeq Al Rumaithi, attended an event marking the arrival of a vessel carrying 200 containers of food and medical supplies to support 500,000 victims. Families in Pakistan affected by the outbreak have hit floods in many parts of the country.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari attended the event.

During the event, Al Zaabi said the UAE, under the direction of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, provided emergency relief and humanitarian assistance to Pakistan and was among the first to help Pakistan by dispatching airlifts One of the countries that survived the crisis. He added that international humanitarian assistance and solidarity are key pillars of the country’s foreign policy, noting that since the floods began, the UAE Embassy in Islamabad and the UAE Consulate in Karachi have developed action plans and clear strategies in coordination with partners. He added that field teams have reached thousands of families in 17 disaster-hit areas in Sindh and 10 in Balochistan, noting the UAE’s charitable and humanitarian foundations, especially the Emirates Red Crescent Society, Kazakhstan The Lifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity and Sharjah International Charities have been in the field since the beginning of the crisis Work.

After meeting officials in Sindh, Al Zaabi visited several flood-affected areas, where he helped distribute aid including medicine, food and shelter materials.

“The UAE’s aid to Sindh and Balochistan is part of its emergency relief efforts, underscoring the country’s approach to supporting affected communities around the world through relief and humanitarian programmes,” he said.

For his part, Minister Bhutto Zardari praised the UAE’s support for those suffering from the harsh conditions caused by climate change.

He also thanked the UAE leaders for their continued support of the people of Pakistan, highlighting the historic and deep-rooted relationship between the two countries forged by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
