Formula 1 announces ‘updated and expanded’ partnership with Amazon Web Services [AWS]elevating the company to the sport’s “global partner” status.
In recent years, global TV viewers have been using AWS graphs to measure many different metrics, such as tire performance, “fight predictions” when one driver is chasing another, and more.
The new “Track Dominance” graphic will be in Abu Dhabi In the final race of the season, fans will have the opportunity to see exactly where on the track a driver or car has the upper hand for the rest of the race.
Additionally, telemetry comparison data will feed new metrics by showing who is making up time through a particular corner or straight.
A statement from Formula One said at the time of the announcement: “The new technology joint venture between AWS and F1 will harness the power of machine learning, artificial intelligence and cloud technology to explore new, unique and innovative ways for fans to enjoy F1.
“F1 and AWS technical experts will work together to design solutions covering motorsport, media and data architecture, future track design and regionalized media product delivery, and explore the convergence of gaming, live events and live performances.”
