The historic Jonesboro Dance Society has moved to the University of Tusculum campus at 60 Greeneville Shiloh Road, Building 9, Niswonger Commons Old Coliseum. Anti-Prom Held every second and fourth Saturday from 7pm to 10:30pm, Anti-Prom is a family friendly, alcohol-, tobacco- and fragrance-free event. Beginner classes are held before each dance where basic movements are taught. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and $25 for families. Dress comfortably and wear soft-soled shoes. The Chester Inn State Historic Site and Museum in Jonesboro is free, but a $2 donation per visitor is recommended. The Historic Town Tour has also returned. Jonesboro’s History Walk is open every Saturday at 1 p.m. Admission is $5 and can be purchased at the museum.
The Wilderness Road Bunker at Natural Tunnel State Park is open every Saturday and Sunday from 2-4pm. The Bunker was built by John Anderson at the North Fork of the Holston River in the spring of 1775. See a replica of Anderson’s Bunker, where members of the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Society provide information about the building and the area’s history.
The Andrew Johnson National Historic Site in Greenville is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Monday and Tuesday. Andrew Johnson National Cemetery will remain open 7 days a week, from 8 am to dusk. The 43rd Annual Christmas Fellowship will be held November 11-12 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm in the main meeting room of the Meadowview Convention Resort and Convention Center. Bays Mountain Park is hosting StarWatch, an hour-long show that allows the public to enjoy the magnificent night sky at Bays Mountain’s observatory. Meetings are held every Saturday night in November at the Observatory. In the event of inclement weather, the Planetarium Theater will host a free night sky alternate live tour.
