Senior Abu Dhabi health official registers as organ donor

Ministry of Health officials who pledged to donate organs include Deputy Minister Dr Jamal Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Medical Workforce Programme Dr Rashed Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Centre Dr Saleh Al-Ali, Executive Director of Finance, Medical Payments Dr Mariam Al Mazrouei, Dr. Huda Almuaini, Executive Director, Strategic Affairs Sector, and Hind Al Zaabi, Executive Director, Medical Facilities Sector.

Officials have come forward to sign up for the “Hayat” program to encourage community members to follow suit, potentially helping to improve the quality of life for people with organ failure.

The Abu Dhabi Community Campaign focuses on encouraging all members of society to register their consent to donate organs and tissues after death, highlighting the emirate’s success in the field and demonstrating its capabilities in the field of organ and tissue donation and transplantation.

The program also aims to continue to raise awareness in the community about the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, thereby reducing the chance of developing lifestyle-related diseases and organ failure, and reducing the need for transplants. This awareness includes information on the need for regular physical activity and a healthy diet to avoid chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity and other health problems.

“Hayat” is a national system designed to enhance the donation and transplantation of human organs and tissues in accordance with the highest international standards and practices in the UAE and the region. It works with a variety of strategic partners locally and globally to save lives, continue to improve the health and safety of communities and enhance the quality of life.

The initiative is a collaborative effort of many federal and local authorities, including the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention, Ministry of Health, Dubai Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, and others across the country Several government and private medical institutions.
