Lizzie Holden will sign with a top team for her long-awaited debut UAE team ADQ in 2023.

“The World Tour has been my goal since I started cycling. So I am very excited to start this new journey with the UAE ADQ team,” said Holden.
“I think I still have a lot to learn in terms of cycling and the team’s structure and focus on high performance. I’m confident to say I’m in the right place at this stage of my career. Holden started professional cycling with British team Drops in 2017, where she spent three seasons before switching to Spain’s Bizkaia-Durango program.
Next year, as part of the UAE’s ADQ team, Holden hopes to continue making progress at some of the biggest races on the Women’s World Tour, while also improving her confidence in her abilities as one of the world’s top drivers.
“I want to try to improve. I want to contribute to the team and help my new teammates achieve big goals. Personally, I think I still need to work on improving my self-confidence and my abilities. Being surrounded by such a motivated and successful team will help me a lot,” she said.
Holden joins a team of 16 drivers, including former world champion Marta Bastianelli, and six new signings – Sylvia Persico, Tour de France A newcomer to cycling, and three other riders from Valcar Travel & Service; Olivia Baril, Chiara Consonni and Eleonora Gasparrini. The addition of Alena Amialiusik and Mikayla Harvey from Canyon-SRAM will add to the team’s climbing prowess.
“I’ve seen women’s sports take off in my career, so as a female athlete, I feel it’s important to empower and inspire other women to follow their dreams,” Holden said.
“I am therefore excited to be involved in the team’s wider project of supporting and promoting women’s sport, especially in the UAE.”
