Won the applause or slow applause for this dinner and DIFC’s performance concept?
Dinner and performances-a rather self-explanatory concept-have become more and more popular in Dubai in the past few months, with more and more residents enjoying the concept of food and entertainment. Some are bold and arrogant, while others are artistic and show effortless talent.
La Casa Del Tango belongs to the latter. Arranged by professional tango dancer Enrique Macana (Enrique Macana), the cast includes flying Argentine dancers and musicians to ensure that the performance meets the highest standards.
However, the venue is a bit messy. The stage is at the far end of the restaurant, but the booth faces the middle, so you need to lift your neck to see the performance.
Even so, the show is only held on weekends, but we were told that this will be extended to more days in the coming months. If you do visit on the weekend, you will appreciate fragments of theatrical performance that break the night in an exciting way, as the skilled dancers will effortlessly shuttle through the stage.
At the same time, the prospect of a true Latin American menu is exciting, and we start with chorizo parrillero with provolone cheese (cheese roll sausage – 100 dirhams). It is a pleasure and satisfying our queso cravings.
We also tried the beef patties (40 dirhams), which is a traditional mushy-like fried snack with a small bowl of relish, but unfortunately it is not enough to hide the dry texture of the filling.
Next we choose Milanese beef (120 dirhams), which is a simple dish in which breaded meat is coated with tomato sauce and sprinkled with grated cheese. It’s good, but it looks like a kid’s pizza. However, the accompanying roasted garlic truffle puree is very light and creamy.
Overall, the presentation was lackluster. The bife ancho (Dhs250) steak is juicy, with only a little salt and chili sauce sprinkled in a bowl, while large pieces of fries are poured into another bowl.
Our last dish was chocolate cake (45 dirhams) in a slightly nicer bowl, but after the waiter poured sweet custard on it, we felt like children at the birthday party.
It’s not that the food and performances at La Casa Del Tango are not good, it’s just that it doesn’t meet the standards, and with such fierce competition within the category and DIFC, the team may find it difficult to stand out from the crowd by talented dancers alone.
