Bangalore: United Arab Emirates Minister Omar bin Sultan Al Olama said on Tuesday that India’s imprint will be on “everyone and everywhere” in the future, as he praised the country’s progress in technology.
Al Olama speaks at the opening of the 25th Bengaluru Tech Summit here.
“Our belief is that India is not only past and present, but India is also the future. The future will leave (an) Indian fingerprint on everyone and everywhere,” he said.
Technology comes from places like Bangalore, Al Olama said, but it also comes from other parts of the world.
“But it has an Indian stamp on it, because all over the world there are Indians shaping the future of technology,” said the UAE minister of state, who is in charge of the portfolio of artificial intelligence, digital economy and remote work apps.
According to him, there are other areas that will be driven by India.
“I don’t think India will drive the future of technology. India will reshape the future of technology, education, finance and many other industries,” Al Olama said at Asia’s largest tech event.
He is optimistic that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed earlier this year between the UAE and India, is an important stepping stone to usher in a new era of technology together.
The UAE minister also believed that the “I2U2” (representing India, Israel, UAE and the United States) partnership will serve as a unique example on which many countries will cooperate.
Turning to the tech industry, Al Olama said the UAE is a “natural springboard” for these players if they want to take their ideas to other parts of the world, including Africa and the Middle East.
