Courville and Sweet Cecilia trio Laura Huval, Maegan Berard and Callie Guidry were all childhood friends in the parish of St. Martin.
According to a PASA statement, Courville suggested to PASA executive director Jackie Lyle that the four friends had long wanted to perform together, and that the only place their musical genres really crossed was in festival music.
“With André’s musical vision and creative staging, this will be a musically remarkable and entertaining concert,” said Lyle. “PASA’s mission includes providing paid performance opportunities to artists residing in our area, and this concert certainly accomplishes that!”
Sweet Cecilia is a family trio whose music is deeply rooted in country, rock, folk and Cajun influences. All three women were accomplished singers and musicians, as well as master songwriters, Lyle said. Sweet Cecilia was officially launched in 2012; however, sisters Laura Huval and Maegan Berard, along with their cousin Callie Guidry, have sung and create music. Their late father and uncle Alberard – a singer/songwriter/musician – encouraged these three young girls to pursue music.
Lyle says Sweet Cecilia’s music is fresh and modern, while staying true to the musical roots and traditions of their upbringing.
