A new initiative to attract professional Emirati educators as school leaders has been launched in Abu Dhabi so they can guide the future development of the emirate’s education sector.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) said it has launched a new leadership version of its homegrown talent incubator, the Emirates Recruitment Initiative (ERI).

The latest initiative aims to attract experienced Emirati educators to join the emirate’s expansive charter school ecosystem, as part of an ongoing effort to further enrich indigenous capabilities, contribute to the education sector and aid in the long-term growth of the vital charter school network part.

Applications are now open to UAE nationals with relevant education sector experience who wish to play a role in preparing the next generation of students in UAE charter schools.

Successful UAE recruits receive professional training and job offers as principals and vice-principals in the charter school network.

“Emirati cadres are a key pillar of the success of our education ecosystem, especially in charter schools, where our Emirati students have access to quality educational opportunities while developing their national identity,” said Sara Awadh Issa Musallam, Minister of State for Early Education, Federal Early Chair of the Department of Education (FAEE) and Chair of Adek.

“Enriching the development pathways for Emirati educators helps to ensure a sustainable human capital talent pool that can lead the future of the education sector. Our aim is to increase the number of passionate and dedicated Emirati staff in Abu Dhabi charter schools because We believe leaders in UAE schools are critical to our mission of developing global citizens who are true to their national and cultural roots.”

The fourth recruiting event is dedicated to engaging school leaders, following on from the three previous recruiting events, recruiting teachers, administrators, counselors, social workers and parent relations executives. The first three ERI recruitment campaigns attracted over 300 UAE national participants and the program was directly responsible for the placement of 145 UAE education professionals in charter schools.

Khulood Al Dhaheri, Executive Director, Education Partnerships, ADEK, said: “This strategic development opportunity is open to all experienced Emirati educators; we invite them to become school leaders and encourage them to apply to support students in reaching their full potential. The initiative clearly Demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the UAE’s human capital under the recently expanded charter school model, which now provides quality learning opportunities to more than 46,500 students.”

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a two-day assessment workshop, during which they will hear panelists discuss the education sector and receive detailed presentations about ADEK’s charter school ecosystem.

Candidates will then be grouped to solve case study challenges before presenting their results to the selection panel. Successful candidates will be scored on their understanding of the case study challenge, their communication skills, applied research, the quality of their proposed solution, the narrative and flow of their presentation, and their ability to respond to group inquiries.
