Busy Phillips has pushed back against claims she was “rude and dismissive” behind the scenes of her talk show Busy Tonight.
After the allegations surfaced on Instagram gossip page DeuxMoi, Busy admitted she could have been rude to executives but insisted she was nice to her staff.
She wrote: “@deuxmoi no need to anonymize me!
“Someone sent me this, and it probably was true for a lot of executives who were at the network at the time.
“I hate working for E!Execs when we’re trying to make our show, it’s not a T.
“I’ve discussed with @instacais multiple times on our podcast why I feel the way I do, and we’ve specified situations where I know I’ve been rude and dismissive.
“But I doubt you’ll find a crew member or assistant or security who will tell you I’m rude and dismissive – I just don’t like people who don’t do their job well and insist on telling me how to do mine.
“But. Let’s face it. The idea that I’m rude and dismissive is rife with misogyny and proves my point anyway.”
The Busy talk show aired for one season in 2018 before being canceled.
Busy – who has children Birdie, 14, and Cricket, 9, and Marc Silverstein – said at the time: “Here’s the thing, folks. My show, busy tonight, won’t continue after May 16 on E! …they decided not to pick it up. Look, we’re meeting with people to see if there’s another place for it to go. Because I want to keep doing it. We all want to figure out a way to keep doing it.
“I feel like we’ve been able to accomplish so much creatively, and I think, culturally, I think we have a real point of view. I’m proud of all the things we’ve accomplished, we’ve done, and I think the show Really successful at that, but, you know… I don’t know what to say.”
