Australia’s massive plan to make cigarettes ‘ugly and tasteless’ | World News

Australia’s health department has proposed a ban on all flavored cigarettes and ordered tobacco companies to produce products with “ugly” and “unattractive” colours, aiming to reduce the number of smokers in the country. Australia has previously asked tobacco companies to stop using overly “attractive” graphics on cigarette packs. Now, the country is focusing on cigarette sticks.

Mark Butler spoke about the country’s plans, emphasizing that the decisions were made to achieve a national daily smoking rate of less than 10% by 2025 and 5% or less by 2030 in just three years The goal.

Australia’s health minister, Mark Butler, said the country wanted to move away from plain packaging, as the aim was to target the cigarettes inside.

Mark Butler noted that there is an awareness that the tobacco industry has innovated, but “we want to remove the advantage that the tobacco industry is trying to find for itself.”

Mark Butler said he wanted to be involved in the final design, but was also following the lead of countries like Canada.

The new changes will include odd-numbered colors for cigarettes, health warnings directly on cigarettes, standardizing the shape and size of cigarettes and banning additives in cigarettes.
