Representatives of Sharjah entities and visitors to prestigious hotels in traditional Emirati dress marked the National Day by hoisting the national flag and playing the Emirati national anthem.
The festivities were also marked by the distribution of UAE flags across the pavilion, a sign that Sharjah’s cultural program at the book fair aims to strengthen ties between Emirati and Arab cultures and their Mexican and Latin American counterparts.
During the celebration, the Sharjah delegation informed visitors about the country’s heritage, including the founders of the Union, the history of the UAE, and informed the book fair visitors of the Union’s founding on 2 December 1971.
The National Day Parade also showcased folk performances, drawing expo attendees to the Sharjah Grand Hotel for a variety of events that reflect the country’s authentic culture.
Representatives of publishers and cultural institutions flooded the pavilion during the festive event to congratulate Sharjah on its national day and praise Sharjah’s efforts to represent Emirati and Arab cultures at Latin America’s largest book fair.
