Russell was out in his first match for the Deccan Gladiators on Saturday, but he was a big game player. So after a stunning 78* off Moeen’s 29 deliveries helped the Samp Army set a target of 120,
mustak ahmed There was no choice but to let Russell start at bat, even though he averaged 4.2 runs for 21 runs over six innings.
What an inspiring decision. The decision gave the Gladiators a chance to defend their title. They did it the hard way, winning two games in one night, and will go into the final with confidence despite sitting fourth in the league table. They’ve been here before and they know what it takes.
It wasn’t until the final game of the T10 league stage in Abu Dhabi last season that the Gladiators realized that the nature of the ten-win system meant that putting Russell in the middle could mean wasting their most precious resource.but coach mustak and captain
Nicholas Plane Make sure they get Russell right on Saturday. He made his first start of the season with 63 off 32 balls, and Puran remained unbeaten with 38 off 12 to bring the Gladiators home in the final.

But Abu Dhabi were devastated by a superb bowling display from the defending champions. They were batting regularly with Sultan Ahmad, Zahur Khan, Josh Little and Tabrez Shamsi, who took two wickets each. None of Abu Dhabi’s top five managed to clear the ropes and the final task was too much for the tail. Barely hitting twice in successive bowls, 30 overs were required for two overs, and a couple of hard strikes by Adil Rashid meant they needed six for the final over.
The crowd backed Rashid for another shot, but Zahoor’s yorker was fantastic, ensuring the Gladiators had a chance to defend their title.
