DUBAI, 29th November, 2022 (WAM) — Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the fifth Taqdeer The winners of the awards were honored at an awards ceremony held today. The ceremony honored 36 companies and 94 workers from different economic sectors.
The Taqdeer Awards recognize companies that offer exceptional worker benefits programs and work environments, and employees who have made significant contributions to setting new standards in worker benefits and productivity. The winners were presented by Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation; Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of Residence and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai and Chairman of the Taqdeer Awards.
“The Taqdeer Awards play a vital role in raising awareness among companies and employees about labor market legislation and the rights and responsibilities of all parties,” said Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar.
“The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has consistently supported initiatives aimed at making the UAE’s business environment and labor market more attractive to local and international talent,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by Abdulla Al Basti, Secretary General of Dubai Executive Council; Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA); and Abdulla Ali Bin Zah, Director General of the Department of Human Resources, Government of Dubai Jed Farasi, as well as senior government and private sector officials, representatives of international organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, the media, representatives of award-winning companies and their employees.
During the award ceremony, Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor expressed his deepest gratitude to His Highness HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Patron of the Taqdeer Awards, for his support and guidance.
Major General Obaid said the Taqdeer Award is a major initiative to transform labor welfare in the emirate and instill high standards of worker welfare. He said the award has received global acclaim for inspiring companies and workers in Dubai to improve worker welfare standards, productivity, job loyalty, and the quality and speed of project implementation.
In the fifth edition of the awards, the number of companies receiving a 5-star rating has increased by 100%, with 8 companies shortlisted in the category compared to 4 in the previous edition. The chairman of the awards said it was a clear sign that Dubai companies are more committed to improving the services and facilities they provide to their employees.
Key achievements of the fifth award include:
• Strategic Government Partners increased to 11, compared to 5 in the previous edition.
• Increased the number of incentives offered by strategic partners for 4- and 5-star companies to 60.
• The number of blue-collar workers benefiting from the Taqdeer Award discount card increased to 160,000 from 40,000 in the previous edition.
• Signed partnerships with national universities and hospitals to support talented workers and their children.
• Launch of the ‘I Found Myself’ initiative, the first in a series of documentaries that will highlight the achievements of workers and the opportunities Dubai offers them to advance to senior positions.

A total of 94 workers from various sectors of the economy were honored at the Taqdeer Awards ceremony. They received souvenirs and cash in recognition of their hard work, excellence and commitment to enforcing state laws and company rules and standards.
Award standard
Held every two years, the award is open to companies with 50 or more employees. The criteria for the award are based on international best practices, in particular those approved by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the International Labor Organization and other organizations and institutions working to protect the rights of workers and employers.
The awards program evaluates submissions and scores them on a 1,000-point scale. In the scoring system, a total of 500 points were assigned for worker empowerment, 250 points were assigned for worker feedback on the work environment, and 250 points were assigned for performance indicators. The empowerment criterion consists of two basic components – support for workers (250 points), including labor policy, facilities and infrastructure, occupational health and safety, worker security and wages; work culture and environment standards (250 points), Covers fairness and transparency, creativity and innovation, regulation and directives, industrial relations, communication and feedback.
A company must score 700 points or more to receive a 5-star rating, while a company scoring 550 will receive a 4-star rating. A company with a score of 450 will receive a 3-star rating, and a company with a score of 300 will receive a 2-star rating. Companies with a score of less than 200 on the evaluation indicators will receive a 1-star rating.
Five-star and four-star enterprises will be awarded certificates of commendation and will be given priority in contracting government projects. The recognition also boosts their global profile and opens up new international opportunities for them.
