‘Tuna Christmas’

Arkansas Public Theater Stage “Tuna Christmas” Directed by Ed Howard, Joe Sears and Jaston Williams, Sequel to “The Big Tuna,” Thurs-Saturday and Dec. 15-17 at 8 p.m. and Dec. 11 and Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Victory Theater , 116 S. music: ‘SoNA Christmas’

Northwest Arkansas Symphony celebrates the season “A very SoNA Christmas,” Saturday 2pm and 7:30pm at the Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville, 495 W. Dickson St. Music Director Paul Haas conducts soprano soloist Lenora Greene Turner, SoNA singers and University of Arkansas inspirational choir . Tickets are $36-60.

The Orchestra will perform Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride”; Duke Ellington & Billy Strayhorn’s jazz version of Peter Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite”; Paul O’Neill and Robert Kindle’s “Silent Night/Sarajevo 12 /24” (with assistant conductor Sarah Pearson on the podium); Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Christmas Overture; and, with soloists by Rivers Wiseman and Michael Puryear, by Antonio Vivaldi Vivaldi Concerto in G minor for two cellos and orchestra.

SoNA singers will perform John Rutter’s adaptation of “O Come, All Ye Faithful”; George Friedrich Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from “Messiah”; Susan Rabar and Daniel Elder’s “A Midwinter Song”; “Silent Night”; and the final fanfare, “Joy to the World.”

Green will perform “A Christmas Song” by Mel Torme and Robert Wells, recorded by Nat King Cole, as arranged by Charles Grean. She and UA Inspirational Chorale will sing Adolphe Adam and Placide Cappeau’s “O Holy Night,” adapted by David T. Clydesdale. The Inspirational Choir will also perform an adaptation of Mark Butler’s “Glory to the Newborn King Hallelujah”.

The next day, December 11th, at 2pm, the orchestra returned to the Walton Arts Center to play a live score for a screening of the award-winning animated film The Snowman. Tickets are $10.

The Rogers Historical Museum is located at 313 S. Second St., Cherry Street, Rogers. Holiday Open House, Saturdays from 10am to 2pm on the theme “The Night Before Christmas”. Take a guided tour of the Hawkins House, built in 1895, admire Clement Moore’s 1822 poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” and learn how the early Rogers family celebrated the season at home. audition: Rogers’ “Small Store”

Arkansas Public Theater holds musical auditions “Little Shop of Horrors” (music by Alan Menken, book and lyrics by Howard Ashman, based on the 1960 Roger Corman film), Dec. 12, 7 p.m., at the Victory Theater, 116 Second St. Rogers. Doors open at 6:30pm. Call back on December 13th at 7pm if needed.
