Bahrain-British racing team 2 Seas Motorsport took the lead in the 34-race race at the Gulf 12 Hours at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit from Friday to Sunday.
Organizers yesterday confirmed the final entry for the prestigious GT race, which will be running for its 11th this year.
Two-time reigning champion 2 Seas will be one of a record number of 30 GT3 cars racing around the 5.281km circuit.
The other four are GT Cup cars. Drivers from 25 different countries competed against six global supercar brands.
This weekend’s event will feature a new race format, with the 12-hour race running for the first time in its history, rather than being split into two 6-hour segments as was previously the case.
There will be open practice on Friday, followed by qualifying on Saturday.
The 12-hour race will start at 10am on Saturday.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa of Bahrain, co-owner of 2 Seas, will join Martin Kodric and Hunter Abbott in the Pro-Am.
The overall winners of the past two years’ race will share the responsibility behind the wheel of their MercedesAMG GT3 cars.
2 Seas will have another car on the road, driven by the trio of Lewis Williamson, Aaron Walker and James Cottingham.
