The US$375,000 FIBA 3×3 World Tour Finals in Abu Dhabi will take place this weekend in a bespoke arena on Yas Bay’s iconic waterfront.
After more than 440 matches over seven months, 12 teams from nine countries reached the final, including Olympic medalists and some of the greatest 3×3 players.
Ahead of the final, Riga captain Agnes Cavals said: “Our performance in Abu Dhabi last year was unforgettable. Seeing the popularity of this sport in every corner of the world, especially in Abu Dhabi The passion we showed made this competition even more meaningful. We look forward to competing for the title in December and continuing to grow the sport we love.”
Aref Hamad Al Awani, secretary-general of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, this month encouraged the capital to offer basketball fans old and new the opportunity to watch the world’s best players play.
“The final of any elite sporting event is the perfect combination of passion, action, athlete commitment and dedication. So being able to witness it – and of course making it available to the UAE community – is something we at ADSC can all be proud of Things. There will be a fan zone that welcomes basketball fans and families, with food trucks, booths, live music, arts events and more. Additionally, the event will once again feature the popular Slam Dunk Contest, Shootout Contest and the ever-popular basketball acrobat Face Team.
