Orlando, FL – Supporters of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) will gather outside SeaWorld on Sunday, holding signs reading “‘Rescued’ dolphins sexually abused, exploited, shipped to Abu Dhabi,” reminding visitors who want to go to the park that the company Just dispatched 24 dolphins —Nine of them are from SeaWorld Orlando– to its new to abuseMenment park in the United Arab Emirates. The dolphins include Alice, who was “rescued” in 2007, held captive at SeaWorld San Antonio, and bred forcibly in the company’s dolphin breeding program, in which staff pull female dolphins out of the water — Sometimes it’s after drugging them so they don’t fight back — by stuffing tubes full of semen into their wombs. Through this forced insemination, Alice gave birth to two calves.

“Instead of shipping dolphins around the world, it would be better to exhibit them in another place to abuse“PETA urges the public to stay away from SeaWorld this holiday season,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman.

PETA — whose motto reads in part “Animals are not our entertainment” — opposes speciesism, an anthropocentric worldview.
