Boxing stars past and present gather in Abu Dhabi for the IBA (International Boxing Association) Global Boxing Forum 2022, featuring legends such as Evander Holyfield and Roy Jones Jr alongside current fighters Dmitry Bivol, Lawrence Okolie, Joshua Buatsi, Estelle Mossely and many more.
Now in its third year, the IBA Global Boxing Forum is a platform for all players in the international sport of boxing to openly exchange ideas, learn from sports industry best practice and make new connections.
Following a welcome address by IBA President Umar Kremlev (pictured), a series of panel sessions, workshops and discussions were held covering important topics such as how boxing can achieve gender equality, challenges and solutions for global boxing development, sporting and governance integrity and career.
Ensuring good opportunities for athletes, and boxing’s place in the Olympic Games, was the overarching theme of this year’s event at the Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi.
“The Global Boxing Forum is a unique opportunity to bring our boxing family together to discuss the challenges we face and find necessary solutions,” Krymlev said in his opening statement. “I expect lots of innovative and insightful ideas and suggestions from everyone.”
“Issues are always resolved in dialogue,” added Jones Jr. “I would like to thank the IBA and President Kremlev for giving me the opportunity to express our thoughts and offer the best advice for our beloved sport.” Together, we can achieve more.
“We’re here to highlight strongly that the IBA is trying to help amateur boxing, professional boxing, combine the two and help boxing as a whole.”
“We’re trying to bring everyone together to gain support and ensure boxing lives on in the Olympic and professional era.”
The Global Boxing Forum concluded Sunday with the IBA Night of Champions event, an inaugural event that will be a unique and entertaining format for athletes and spectators alike.
