Proceeds from Dh25 coins will be used to provide scholarships to students

The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) has partnered with the American University of Sharjah (AUS) to issue 1,000 commemorative silver coins to celebrate the institution’s silver jubilee.
AUS was established in 1997 to realize the vision of its founder, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member and Ruler of the Supreme Council of Sharjah and President of the American University of Sharjah.
Reflecting AUS’s legacy, the University has become a place that inspires students to excel academically, thrive socially, celebrate their cultural diversity and positively impact their communities.
Each coin weighs 40 grams. The obverse includes a map of AUS and the year of establishment, surrounded by the name of the university in Arabic and English. On the reverse of the coin, in addition to the face value (Dh25), there is a logo designed to celebrate the 25th anniversary and the name of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates written in Arabic and English.
All issued coins have been handed over to AUS and will not be sold at CBUAE headquarters and its branches.
On the occasion, CBUAE Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama said: “The commemorative coin issued for the Silver Jubilee of the American University of Sharjah reflects the University’s continuing success and we are pleased to highlight this as a token of appreciation for their tireless efforts and To remind future generations of the importance of these achievements. We are proud of this partnership, which reflects the central bank’s interest in commemorating important events across fields.”
AUS Vice-Chancellor Dr Susan Mumm said: “AUS’s Silver Jubilee celebration is an important milestone for our community. We are very proud of the reputation of excellence that the University has built over the past few years and we look forward to many more achievements as we continue True to the vision of our Founder, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi. Our partnership with the Central Bank stems from our desire to celebrate this momentous occasion, while carrying the mission of supporting talented students in realizing their full potential. Commemorative coin It will be given to AUS alumni and the proceeds will be used to provide 25 scholarships for students celebrating AUS’ 25th anniversary.”
