UAE expands golden visa scheme to include more workers

The United Arab Emirates is expanding its golden visa plan more staff memberincluding scientists, researchers and skilled professionals.

  • Six-month entry visa with multiple entries for residence issuance
  • Long-term renewable residence visa valid for 5 or 10 years
  • Privilege that does not require a guarantor
  • Able to stay outside the UAE beyond the usual six months to keep their residence visa valid
  • Ability to sponsor members of their family, including spouse and children, regardless of age
  • Ability to sponsor an unlimited number of domestic helpers
  • In the event of the death of the main holder of the Golden Visa, family members may remain in the UAE until the end of the permit period.

The requirements for a Golden Visa depend on the type of residence.

1. For skilled professionals

Duration: 10 years

You are eligible if you:

  • Must work in UAE
  • Occupational roles classified by MOHRE’s Occupational Classification Scheme as follows:
  • Primary Classification – Managers and Business Executives
  • Secondary classification – professionals in science, engineering, health, education, business and management, information technology, law, sociology and culture
  • A minimum level of education of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum monthly salary of AED 30,000 or equivalent
  • Hold a valid practicing license in the UAE, if required (e.g. physician, pharmacist, teacher, etc.)

To apply, you will need to provide:

  • Employment contract approved in the UAE
  • Evidence that the applicant holds a position classified as Level 1 or Level 2 by MOHRE’s Occupational Classification Scheme
  • Proven bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • A valid practicing license from the Emirate or United Arab Emirates, for occupations that require it
  • employment certificate
  • Proof of salary from employer and bank statements for the last 6 months showing a monthly salary of not less than AED 30,000

2. For scientists and researchers

Duration: 10 years

You are eligible if you:

  • Possess master’s and doctoral degrees in engineering, technology, life sciences and natural sciences conferred by the Ministry of Education.
  • A doctorate from one of the world’s top 500 universities, or a master’s degree from one of the world’s top 250 universities. Alternatively, a master’s or doctorate from one of the top 100 universities in the field of study.
  • Field Weighted Citation Index (FWCI) rating of 1.0.
  • H-index rating of 10 or higher.

  • Scopus H-index rating > 20.

either

  • Achievement in setting up research and development departments within and outside the UAE on the recommendation of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology.

  • A letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Culture and Youth or the local authority.

4. For elite experts in the field of industry and the fourth industrial revolution

Duration: 10 years

To apply, you will need to provide:

  • A letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology or the local authority.

5. For elite experts in the field of health

Duration: 10 years

To apply, you will need to provide:

  • Letter of recommendation from Ministry of Health or Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health
  • A valid license to operate in the UAE

6. Education elite experts

Duration: 10 years

To apply, you will need to provide:

  • Letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Education or Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge
  • A valid license to operate in the UAE
