The wheels of dreams are still turning! Before Broadway was forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Entertainment Community Fund was gearing up for a very special ragtime reunion concert originally scheduled for April 27, 2020.
Ticketholders have been anxiously awaiting word on when the concert will be rescheduled since Broadway returned. Nowadays, Brian Stokes MitchellECF President and one of the stars of the original Broadway production, announced that the fund’s current goal is to celebrate the musical’s 25th anniversary with a bow in 2023!

Benefit concert originally scheduled to feature original cast, including six-time Tony Award winner audra mcdonalds (“Sarah”), two-time Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell (“Coalhouse Walker, Jr.”) and Peter Friedman (“Tata”).
Adapted from a classic American novel el doctorroragtime has a book Terrence McNally (Master Class, Love! Courage! Compassion!) Lynn Ahrens with Stephen Flaherty (once on this island, Anastasia, Seussical).
Ragtime’s original production opened at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts (now the Lyric Theater) on January 18, 1998, and ran for 834 performances. The show was nominated for 14 Tony Awards and won Best Musical Theater Book (Terrence McNally), Best Original Score (Stephen Flaherty with Lynn Ahrens), Best Actress in a Musical (audra mcdonalds) and best orchestration (william david Brown).
