In the first phase, ART will serve the main tourist attractions and commercial centers of Yas Island.
ITC also announced the launch of Phase 2 of the Yas Island and Saadiyat Island Smart Transport Project.
The Smart Mobility project was officially launched during the 2022 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, a collaboration between DMT, ITC and Bayanat, an ADX listed company majority-owned by G42, specializing in artificial intelligence geospatial intelligence.
The smart mobility system on Yas and Saadiyat Islands currently comprises 17 vehicles, including eight “TXAI” autonomous vehicles, the UAE’s first fully autonomous autonomous taxis, which were launched last November.
The self-drive taxi route on Saadiyat Island includes several new stops, namely Mamsha Saadiyat, Al Manarat, NYU Abu Dhabi, St. Regis Hotel, Saadiyat Beach, Lycée Français International High School Théodore Monod), Jumeirah, Saadiyat Beach Residences and Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi. The total length of the route is 47.5 kilometers and the service hours are from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm every week.
Customers can download and install the TXAI app to book and track their rides.
The project includes 6 mini robot buses, and 15 charging stations added to the Yas and Saadiyat island networks.
Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Bayanat, said: “When we think about the future, we think about how Bayanat can enhance and enhance the public transport system with smart, innovative solutions. Autonomous vehicle technology will make mobility in Abu Dhabi even better. Efficient and more attractive to the public.”
He added: “Through our partnership with the [ITC], we’re making smart, green and safe transportation available to all to better serve our communities. This is only the beginning of the future as we continue to strive to realize the potential of advanced technology in our everyday lives. “
