Happy festive season was in store for the lucky winners of Mahzooz’s 108th Super Saturday Sweepstakes draw.

The second prize of AED 1 million was shared among 22 winners in the draw, with 1,272 winners receiving AED 350 each.

Three expatriates won Dh100,000 each. Kirill from Uzbekistan, Rowena from the Philippines and Khawar from Pakistan were the lucky winners who shared the Dh300,000 raffle prize.

Khawar, a 36-year-old Pakistani expatriate, saw his name on the screen while watching the lottery live on Saturday night. The expat, who arrived in Dubai six years ago, works a physically demanding job loading and unloading merchandise for a private company. He is ecstatic about his new victory and believes the prize has come at just the right time. He plans to use it to start a clothing business in his home country and, of course, buy himself a new smartphone.

Khawar’s friends created Mahzooz accounts immediately after being inspired by his recent wins and started participating.

Kirill, a 45-year-old employee of Uzbekistan Airlines and a food blogger who has lived in Dubai for 20 years, did not expect to win such a big prize. Kirill was enjoying the company of his friends at the park when he received the email from Mahzooz. At first he couldn’t believe his good luck, but when his colleagues who also participated in Mahzooz started calling to congratulate him, he realized he had hit the jackpot.

Kirill and many of his friends believe that repeated and persistent engagement is the key to winning. Kirill plans to use the money to buy a new car.

Rowena, the 36-year-old Philippine airport operations team leader, shared Kirill’s excitement about her big win. Rowena, who has lived in the UAE for the past ten years, received the biggest surprise of her life on Christmas Eve when she got a call from a friend telling her her name had been announced in the draw. Rowena checked the results on the website around 10pm and was surprised to see her name listed as the winner. She started crying and couldn’t sleep all night. She called her mom and told her she had won the jackpot. Still receiving her big win, Rowena has no plans for what to do with her windfall. She would certainly like to donate some of her winnings to charity and save the rest for her future.
