Aspen Laugh Fest returns in February | Arts & Entertainment

After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and “Life Is Not a Bucket of Laughter,” the Wheeler Opera House will resume the Aspen Laughter Festival, according to a Wheeler press release.

It returns, February 21-25, “with five days of the best and brightest comics on the main stage. Patrons can enjoy eye-popping, outrageous shows in person in the beautiful, historic Opera House.” Laughter,” the release said.

In a prepared statement, Wheeler executive director Lisa Rigsby Peterson said she was excited to help restart the festival, an Aspen tradition that many have missed .

● February 21, 7:30pm: Zainab Johnson

● Feb. 24, 7:30pm: “Double the Laughs” with Ivan Decker and Ryan Hamilton

Decker, originally from Vancouver and currently based in Los Angeles, is a writer, stand-up comedian and actor known for his sharp, polished and multi-layered observational comedy. With numerous televised appearances for CBC Television at the Montreal Laughter Festival, Winnipeg and Halifax Comedy Festival, Decker can be heard across North America on Sirius XM Radio. He can also be seen and heard on the popular CBC radio show “The Debaters,” the release said.

Hamilton’s one-hour Netflix stand-up special “Happy Face” was reviewed as “you can’t watch enough of the special,” the release said. Numerous TV appearances and a non-stop headlining tour followed. With a unique perspective of growing up in rural Idaho, Hamilton became a darling of the New York stand-up scene. He was named one of Rolling Stone’s “Five Comics Worth Watching”.

● February 25, 7:30pm: Ron Funches

Funches is a stand-up comedian, actor and author. His TV and film roles include The Goldbergs, New Girl, Transparent, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Get Hard, and more. A lover of animated television and film, Funches has voiced voices on numerous projects, including DreamWorks’ “Trolls,” Disney’s “Ivan the Great,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and more.
