ABU DHABI, 28th December, 2022 (WAM) — The Central Bank of the UAE, CBUAE, in partnership with Abu Dhabi Ports, has issued 1,000 commemorative silver coins in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Zayed Port and the 10th anniversary of Khalifa Port .
The release of these commemorative coins highlights the success of Abu Dhabi Ports over the past few decades and its role in the emirate’s maritime sector.
It also underscores the importance of these ports in their development journey, especially Khalifa Port, which is one of the fastest growing ports in the world and has a strategic location on one of the busiest and most important trade routes in the world.
Each coin weighs 60 grams. The obverse includes an image of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group logo with the name “Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates” written in Arabic and English.
On the back of the coin is a map of the port, with the words “AD Ports Group” in Arabic and English on the top. In addition, the words “50th Anniversary of Zayed Port” and “10th Anniversary of Khalifa Port” are marked in Arabic and English on the upper and lower sides. AED50.
Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of CBUAE, said, “To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Zayed Port and the 10th anniversary of Khalifa Port through the issuance of commemorative coins is a tribute to their efforts and greatness. To transform Abu Dhabi’s maritime infrastructure contribute and position the emirate as a leading regional and global hub.
“We are also delighted to be working with Abu Dhabi Ports Group and look forward to many more achievements.”
Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Chairman of AD Ports Group, said: “The issuance of the commemorative coin bearing the names of the two ports by the Central Bank of the UAE recognizes their contribution and important role in promoting economic development.
