Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Services secures volunteer hours for blood donors

ABU DHABI – Blood Bank Services in Abu Dhabi has announced that blood donors can now earn volunteer credits through the UAE Volunteer Platform.

The volunteer service hours of blood donors will be counted according to the type of blood donation. Donate blood for two hours and donate platelets for three hours. College students can benefit from this program to complete the volunteer requirements required for graduation.

Dr. Saleh Al Ali, Executive Director of the DoH Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response, said: At the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, we aspire to achieve a balance between supply and demand for blood donations across the emirate. This stems from our responsibility to the health and safety of all community members, and our commitment to ensuring that the emirate is prepared to respond to health emergencies in accordance with best international practice and standards. Our ongoing efforts with our partners in the healthcare industry aim to raise awareness of donating blood as a noble act that helps save the lives of countless people around us. “

Dr Huda Khalfan Al Shamsi, Director of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Services, said: “The UAE volunteer platform will serve Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Services immensely as we have worked hard to develop our programs and projects to keep pace helping us ensure regular Giving blood to save the lives of patients. We emphasize the importance of how blood donation works because in doing so, you are giving another chance to live. The UAE Volunteer Platform helps us achieve this by attracting voluntary blood donors. “

The UAE Volunteers Platform provides full details to its users including location, time and date as volunteers can register to donate blood by visiting the UAE Volunteers Platform https://volunteers.ae/.

According to data collected by Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Services, the number of blood donors in the emirate of Abu Dhabi has exceeded 53,948 by 2022, and the total number of blood donors in the past five years has exceeded 247,801.

Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Services is one of the strategic services of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, the regulatory body for the healthcare sector in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, and is operated by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA).
