Art: small works on paper

40 works by 27 Arkansas artists form Arkansas Arts Council’s 2023 small works on paper The traveling exhibition debuted Wednesday at the South Arkansas Arts Center, 110 E. Fifth St., El Dorado. The exhibit features artwork no larger than 18″ x 24″ by members of the Arkansas Artists Registry, an online gallery designed to promote and market Arkansas art.

The exhibition will be on view January 30 at the El Dorado Arts Center, which will host a reception and artist talks on January 21 from 5:30pm to 7pm. Admission to the exhibition and reception is free, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Margaret LeJeune, an associate professor of photography at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, selected 40 of 275 submissions and assigned a Buy Award to five of them, which Become part of a permanent series of Small Works on Paper.

comedy: comedy workshop

comedian ben jones hosts a show called “Stand-Up Comedy Basics with Ben Jones,” Wednesday 5:30-7:30 pm at Main, Southeast Arkansas’ ART WORKS Center for Arts and Sciences at 627 S. Main St. in Pine Bluff. Designed for beginners and to refresh their skills, the class will focus on comedy history, equipment, writing structure, and acting techniques.
