Held at Al Manhal Majlis in Abu Dhabi, the lecture is part of the ‘Majalisna’ initiative launched by ADJD to implement the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Justice, promotes the dissemination of legal culture at all levels of society in support of the maintenance of security and stability.
Chief Prosecutor Dr. Abdulla Hamad Al Mansouri’s presentation explained the nature and definition of cybercrime, the dangers of cyber-extortion and the sanctions imposed by law in this regard. He also highlighted the reasons and factors that lead members of society to become victims of cyber-extortion, while sharing real-life examples based on cases handled by the Public Prosecution.
Dr. Al Mansouri also discussed the risks associated with the misuse of social media networks and the responsibilities of users under the provisions of Federal Decree No. 34 of 2021 on Combating Rumors and Cybercrime.
The Attorney-General highlighted the most important limitations and controls that people should be aware of when browsing online to ensure safe use of all means of information technology and to avoid legal liability for practices that could lead them to commit acts that could expose them.
