one of the United Arab EmiratesAbu Dhabi-based coil and plate re-rolling company Dana Steel and Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD) have reached an agreement to build Abu Dhabi’s first cold rolling mill.
KEZAD Group is expanding its support for Abu Dhabi’s industrial strategy, providing a platform for Dana Steel’s first factory in the emirate, with the aim of doubling the value of the emirate’s manufacturing industry by 2031 through a series of transformational programs above, reaching AED 172 billion.
Under the terms of the contract, Dana Steel will construct a 50,000-square-meter cold-rolling plant with a cold-rolling capacity of 500,000 metric tons for backward integration of the company’s continuous galvanizing and continuous color coating facilities.Currently, Dana Steel has 500,000 tons of cold rolling capacity and 350,000 tons and 150,000 tons of cold rolling capacity, respectively for coating HDG and PPGI sections.
Thus, through this new complex, Dana Steel will increase its manufacturing capabilities in the GCC and replace imported raw materials with new domestically-United Arab Emirates Supplies.
“Commissioning will begin in June 2023 with an expected start date of one, two or five years. With this plant, United Arab EmiratesNo doubt there will be some competition from other major manufacturing countries such as India and China,” a Dana Steel representative told Orbis Steel.
