JAZAN: Jazan province is a hotbed this winter for tourists looking to relax, stroll through beautiful landscapes, have a chance to taste the region’s famous coffee – and even look for investment opportunities in the expanding leisure industry.

Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, who is in charge of the Jizan Regional Tourism Development Committee, has approved plans to build a tourism economy in the province. Since then, Jazan City Track and Farasan Islands Track have been approved as tourist trekking trails.

At the same time, the Heritage Village is an important tourist attraction. During an Arab News team tour of the site, the village director, Mohammad Ali, said it was popular because of its architecture and cultural heritage.

There are several historic buildings made of stone and mud detailing the historical way of life.

• Jazan City Track and Farasan Islands Track have been approved as tourist walking trails.

• Women of Jazan sell traditional and handmade products in heritage villages.

• Visitors can take a ferry to the Farasan Islands, a protected area included in UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme.

“The Jizan region has made a name for itself in various fields across the globe, whether it is business, development or tourism. For example, in the Al-Raith province of the Global Archipelago, there is one of the largest model gardens in the world,” said Ali.

“Coffee is grown in the mountains, and UNESCO calls it one of the best products in the world.”

According to Ali, the 7,000-acre village is where the customs and traditions of the mountain, Tihama and marine environments come together in one place.

Local resident Hamouda Hussain is one of many women selling traditional products at the village market.

“I have loved sewing since I was a child and I sell my products here, which are popular traditional clothing,” she told Arab News. “I also make agarwood blends and incense for the body. I see a lot of tourists coming from all over to Heritage Village to buy my products.

“There are more tourists in winter, spring break, National Day and National Day,” she added.

After visiting the village, tourists can take a ferry to the Farasan Islands, a protected area known for its diverse ecosystems and rare wild animals, which has been included in the “Man and the Biosphere Program” initiated by UNESCO.

Yousef Al-Seeni, assistant to the ferry captain, said there is nothing that makes him happier than seeing tourists from all over the world visit the islands.

“We have a lot of tourists from all over the world and they are happy with us because the sailing time is only one hour,” Al-Seeni said. As a result, they love us and the island and dolphin views, and the opportunity to indulge in their favorite pastimes like diving, fishing, and sports like hiking and tasting delicious seafood. “

Jazan and Farasan are famous for their fish and pearl trade, which is sold and exported to countries all over the world due to the abundance of fish, shellfish and shells on the coastal beaches.
